HOW TO MAKE A BAG POUCH FOR YOUR DIRTY & CLEAN MASKS

EASY SEW WALLET DESIGN with FREE PATTERN

Dirty reusable Masks are a problem that fabric mask wearers are dealing with so today as part of the Stay Safe series, I am introducing you to an easy wallet pouch for you to put your dirty or clean mask inside while travelling to the shops etc.

Not everyone has access to clip machines/tools or confidence to sew a buttonhole or zip, so this easy pattern is for everyone to be able to enjoy and create for your family and friends by using a slot mechanism and basic sew design.

Step by Step Beginner Vinyl Easy Wallet Picture Tutorial

INSTRUCTIONS
  • Print your Free Pattern on A4 size paper, 100% scale
  • Cut out the Paper Pattern
  • Place your paper pattern on top of the plastic fabric
  • Mark around the pattern on the plastic with a thin marker
  • Cut with sharp scissors around the edge of the pattern
  • Cut the slot line on the inside of the template with a craft knife or fold it over and cut with scissors
  • Fold the vinyl over and clip the sides together with clothes pegs or small clamps. Do not pin Vinyl as you will leave holes
  • Sew a straight long length line along each side edge (I use 3.5) & do a small backstitch at the beginning and end
  • If you are hand sewing then use a sharp thin needle
  • Cut loose thread for a clean finish at each end
  • If you would like a way to attach it to the outside of your bag, cut a small slot line in one of the corners of the wallet. If you have a leather hole punch, you can also use this
  • Join two keyring loops together creating one ring at the bottom and one ring at the top. Leave one chain in the centre of both rings
  • Hook the ring through the corner slit
  • Alternatively, you can use a metal snap hook or a carabiner to hook to your bag.
  • Place your mask inside
When placing a worn mask inside, take the mask off your ear, and fold it over from the inside, making sure you do not touch the outside of the mask. Slide into the case.
  • Fold over the top wallet section and hook in the slots
Wash your mask holder after every use, you can do this by wiping it down with a germ remover wipe or spray. Check the brand's packaging or instructions to ensure it will kill COVID-19 germs as some do not say this.

Make a few vinyl pouches at a time so you always have one available if you are moving around to different places throughout the day and need to change your fabric mask often.
TIP - Mark the front of your mask wallet with CLEAN & DIRTY, so you will always know which one is fresh to wear
I hope you love this easy sewing project design as much as I do. Please use the design for personal use only and not reproduce it for profit. I work hard on my templates and offer them for Free to the craft community. If my patterns continue to get resold and profits made from them I will have to start offering my free templates as email subscription only which I do not want to do. Thanks for understanding 💗
