Make your own Poison Ivy Corset by following the instructions below
TUTORIAL DETAILS
- Skill Level - Beginner
- Cost - approx $10
- Time - 30 mins
SUPPLIES
- Emerald Green Corset approx $25 from Amazon
- Plastic Poison Ivy Vine $7 from Amazon or find it cheaper at your local dollar store.
- Green cotton thread
- Needle
TIP: You can use any Green Corset or fitted top you like, this is just what I used. The following tutorial will work with your own style top or even to attach to a dress
DIY POISON IVY CORSET
STEP 1
- Cut the Ivy leaves off the vine.
I used 3 leaves per bunch. Calculate how many bunches you would like on your corset or top and cut enough to use. I did 3 bunches which equalled 9 leaves. I also cut 3 to place on hair clips for the accessories.
STEP 2
- Place the bottom of 3 leaves on top of each other and pull the top ones out to make a circle pattern
- Hand sew a few small stitches through all 3 leaves
STEP 3
- Place the bunch onto your corset/top/dress to see where you would like to place them and pin them in the correct spot
I only pinned 3 bunches but you can add as many bunches as you like. We were aiming for a modern, sleek stylish look but you can go as camp and over the top as you like!
STEP 4
- Hand sew the bunches to your corset with little tiny loops that you will not see with the green thread.
- Tie in a knot at the back
The sewing tutorial for the pants are featured HERE
I have made a separate Sewing DIY post so this tutorial isn't too image-heavy and will load faster for you.

DIY FINGERLESS Long Arm Gloves
TUTORIAL DETAILS
- Skill Level - Beginner
- Cost - approx $10
- Time - 30 mins
SUPPLIES
- Sewing Machine or Overlocker
- Sewing Pins, Scissors, Needle & Thread
- Measuring Tape
- 1cm wide elastic, approx 50cm
- Thin elastic, approx 20cms
- Stretch fabric of your choice
STEP 1
Measure your arm in 3 spots
- Your wrist the whole way around
- The length of your arm where you would like the glove to end. I made them above the elbow by 2 inches but you can do below the elbow or shorter if you choose.
- Your arm where the glove will end, measure the whole way around your arm
STEP 2
- Make a paper pattern with your measurements as above. The pattern will be wider at the bottom and skinnier where your wrist will be.
- Lay your fabric out, pin and cut, leaving a 1cm seam allowance. The 1cm when sewn should be the correct amount to be tight enough on your arm.
STEP 3
- Sew along the side seams. Use an overlocker or a straight stitch on a standard sewing machine. Slide the tube onto your arm to check it fits snuggly.
- With your 1cm wide elastic, place it around your arm and measure so it fits tightly. Sew the end of the elastic to create a circle loop
- Fold the top section of the armhole over and pin your elastic in
- Sew a wide zigzag stitch around the armhole securing the elastic in place
STEP 4
- Cut 2 small pieces of thin elastic, approx 2 inches in length
- Tie in a knot at the end
- Hand sew or Machine sew onto the point of each glove. This will go around your finger when wearing, so make sure it is not too tight before you sew it on
I did not do a seam around the wrist hand section because the velvet fabric I used will not fray. If you have a fabric that will fray or come apart, sew a fold-over seam with a zigzag stitch all the way around.
