DIY BOW INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1
Download your Free Fabric Bow Template or draw up your own.
If you are making your own, you need to create a rectangle pattern that is double the width and double the height of the size of what the end result will be.
So if you would like a fabric bow of size 4 x 2,
then your pattern would be 8 x 4.

Find your Free Fabric Bow Pattern at the end of this post.

STEP 2
Cut the pattern and pin to your fabric.
Cut leaving no heam allowance.
STEP 3
Place the fabric on a flat surface with the back of the fabric facing you.
STEP 4
Fold the top and bottom fabric edge over to meet in the middle. Making sure the outside fabric is showing.
STEP 5
Fold the side edges over to meet in the middle.
Place a few dots of glue close to the middle edges, ensuring each layer is glued. Leave the glue a few minutes to stick.
TIP - Do not use too much glue as this will create a hard and stiff section which you do not want when folding in the next steps
STEP 6
Turn over the rectangle to see the front of the bow. Fold in half with the back panel facing each other.
STEP 7
Fold the top and bottom in the opposite direction to create a zig-zag fold. Pinch the centre and hold tight.
STEP 8
Place some dots of glue in the centre of each fold. Hold tight with your fingers.
STEP 9
With your small centre fabric strip that you have cut from the pattern or your custom size piece, place it in the centre and pull it over to the back tightly.

If you are using fabric that will fray, cut your strip wider and fold the edges inwards so you will not see the raw edge from the front.
STEP 10
Glue down at the back & cut the excess fabric
STEP 11
Place a peg of a large bull clip over the centre strip to set the glue. Remove once the glue is dry.
You can add these DIY Fabric Bows to your sewing projects or fashion accessories like hair clips, headbands, hats and bags. If you need to make bows in bulk, like for dance or cheerleading costumes then this is a quicker and easier method than sewing.
