DIY INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1
Select your fabric.
I upcycled an old white towel for a fluffy texture and some scrap pink velvet but you can use any fabric you like. If you use a bath towel like I have, make sure it is a very thin towel and not too fluffy, otherwise, it may not fit under your sewing machine foot or sit correctly around the beret edge when it is finished.

STEP 2
Cut and sew your Beret.

Below is a quick picture tutorial on how to make a beret. If you want to skip this step then just use a ready-made Beret

STEP 3
Once your Beret is made, it is time for the ears.
Print and cut out your FREE Bunny Ears Pattern.

STEP 4
Fold your fabric over, pin your pattern to your fabric and cut 2 sets of ears. If you would like your rabbit ears longer, then extend the straight edge of your pattern to your desired length.
STEP 5
Sew a straight line around the edge, leaving the short straight edge unsewn. Use a long stitch length for fluffy fabric or a towel in the same colour thread of fabric. I only used black to show you the sewn line.

If you do not have a sewing machine, you can hand sew a straight line around the edge.
STEP 6
Cut around the outside of the sewn line to create a neat small seam. Cut small knicks in the curved seam area. Also, cut a blunt straight line at the top of the point of the ear.
STEP 7
Turn your ears the right way around so the seam is inside the ear. Using your fingers, push the fabric through and use the end of a pencil to push the ear point out. Iron flat if your fabric needs a press to hold its shape.
STEP 8
Pin your ears to the underside of the beret in the distance you would like them to sit.
STEP 9
With a needle and thread hand sew in place or sew on your machine if it fits under your machine's foot. Mine did not fit so I hand sewed using the same colour thread as the fabric and ears.
STEP 10
Decorate as you choose. I added 2 velvet fabric bows on the top of the ears and hand-sewed them on.
