Every year in Australia the Children's book council of Australia celebrate books with Book week. This year's theme is 'Find Your Treasure' and is celebrated between the 18th - 24th August 2018.
Due to this theme, many schools have told their students to dress up as only pirates instead of any book theme, so you can imagine the stores have nothing left and last-minute parents are getting worried! :D Shiver me timbers it's close
But rest assured, I have created an easy tutorial on Pirate accessories that will complete your children's or teacher's outfits and be original at the same time.

HOW TO MAKE A PIRATE SWORD
Step 1
- Print & cut template (bottom of page)
- Trace onto an old thick box, I used a shoebox lid and cut out
Step 2
- With your thick cardboard, trace onto the back of the foam twice, making sure each pattern piece is mirrored. You need 2 for the front and back
Step 3
- Glue one pattern piece to one side of the cardboard and then repeat on the other.
- Clamp with pegs or clips
Step 4
- Cut your heart handle out of a different colour and stick it on the front and back
Step 5
- With some string or embroidery thread make the pattern around the handle. This isn't a necessary step but it's cute detail :)
