Beer Middy Glass CUPCAKE Tutorial

Give your Dad something he will enjoy this Father's Day, okay it's not a real beer but the next best thing, a cupcake in the shape of a Middy Beer glass!!

If you are not familiar with a Middy, it's basically a small glass of Aussie beer you drink at the pub with your mates while watching the footy. If you are lucky, you might have some stolen pub glasses in your cupboard to drink some lemonade with on a hot day at home... not me of course...... but anyway back to the Father's Day cupcake tutorial.....

DIY Supplies to make Beer Middy Glass Cupcakes
  • Vanilla Cake mix
  • Pre-made Pound / Madeira Cake
  • Frosting
  • Fondant

Mix and cook cupcakes as per the packet instructions
If you want to go the extra level and be the best daughter in town, then you can make cupcakes with beer, the recipe is here

STEP 3
Join layers together with cream

STEP 4
Cover the sides of the cupcake with icing and smooth.
Place and chill in the fridge to set the icing

STEP 5
Mix orange food colouring in your fondant and roll out. Use Broen if you want a deeper beer colour.
Cut to fit around sides, leaving 1cm at the top for the white fondant frosting

STEP 6
Place frosting on top of the cake

STEP 7
Roll out white fondant, cut and place around the top of the orange.

STEP 8
Place Marshmallows on the top for the beer froth effect

STEP 9
Serve the men in your life and eat a few yourself!

You could recreate these for other events, not just Father's Day. They would be great for male 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th etc Birthday Parties and Bucks night treats. Also for any ladies who love a good glass of beer, you Australian girls know what I am saying!

Happy Fathers' Day!!!
