Somedays I think, when will this Unicorn trend end..... then my beautiful niece's excitement every time she sees something with a unicorn on it, reminds me that it's not going to end anytime soon and who cares because it makes children happy.
Last week I made some unicorn rainbow sandwiches to encourage her to eat all her lunch, not just eat a nibble in her sandwich like most days.
Today I made this quick tutorial, so you can also make these for kid's lunches, magical unicorn parties or for a cute little children's high tea.
COOKING TUTORIAL DETAILS
- Basic cooking skills
- Approx time 5 mins
DIY Supplies to make Unicorn Sandwiches
- White Bread
- Unicorn Cookie Cutter
- Cream Cheese Spread
- Food Colouring
STEP 1
- Put some Cheese spread in tiny bowls or measuring cups.
- Add a few drops of food colouring to each one. I used yellow, lilac, dark pink and blue. But use whatever colours you have to create the rainbow effect.
- Mix colour through the cheese spread.
If your child reacts to certain food colourings, I do not recommend you use them. Most children are fine with colour additives, I just know from experience I could never use blue with my daughter or she would be climbing the walls for hours, literally, climbing the walls 😂

Unicorn High Tea for Two?
STEP 2
- Spread each colour onto your bread to make a rainbow pattern.
STEP 3
- Place another piece of bread on top.
- Place the Unicorn cookie cutter on top of the bread in the middle and push down firmly to cut through both layers of bread.
I have placed the Unicorn sandwiches on some mini vintage saucers and used the small cups for milk, I think actual Tea is still a bit adult for little children but would be okay for a treat.
These DIY sandwiches are cute enough for little girl's birthday parties, school lunches and baby showers. Best of all they are guaranteed to be eaten by fussy eaters.
