I have chosen a range of television series that are new, old and everything in between.
So sit back, pick one of them to binge on for Halloween, and add the rest to your list to stream later on. You can thank me later.
The list is not in any particular order as I can not pick a favourite, but at the moment it is number 1 😂
1| What we do in the Shadows

Main characters - Nadja, Lazlo, Nandor, Guillermo, Colin Robinson
The best way to describe this show is 4 roomies who happen to be Vampires, living together on Staten Island, New York and struggling to live in today's world. Thankfully they have a devoted familiar who helps them in the hope of one day becoming a vampire.
The whole cast is phenomenal with the wit and comical timing of the best in the business. This is not your ordinary vampire tv show, it by far has the best characters on TV, with a talking doll, an energy vampire and a dedicated familiar.
This show is hilarious and has so many short catchphrases you will start using them in everyday life.
2| Supernatural

Main characters - Dean & Sam Winchester, Bobby, Castiel, Lucifer
Everyone has heard of the hit show Supernatural and if you haven't started watching it from the start then it seems like a huge task to start watching all 15 seasons now. But trust me, once you start bingeing you will keep going. Maybe just aim for season 1 this Halloween though, otherwise, you would not be leaving the couch 😂
This show is about two hunting brothers with the skill and knowledge to fight monsters, demons and anything in between. All at the same time saving the entire world. Sure it sounds like every other fantasy show but it is done so brilliantly that it leaves the others for dead.
Sam (Jared Padalecki) & Dean (Jensen Ackles) are the heart of the show and their natural chemistry working together really shows through our screens. You will fall in love with the 'Family" and even the supernatural bad guys.
This show has a great mix of supernatural fantasy characters that keeps the show entertaining, lusting after some of the stars and wanting more each season.
3| True Blood

Main characters - Sookie, Eric, Bill, Jason, Pam, Lafayette
Be warned, this is Sex-filled vampire lore. You will be hooked on this one from the first episode.
This show is based in a small town that is not as it seems. Sookie, the main character can read minds and discovers she lives in a magical fantasy town with vampires, werewolves and mystical creatures.
There are lots of twists and turns, a love triangle, vampire nightclubs, hunks and lots of sex, but has a lot of storylines that relate to us all and may teach us a few life lessons.
4| Todd and The Book of Pure Evil
Aired - 2010 to 2012

Genre - Black Comedy, Fantasy, Horror, Sci-fi, Gore
Creatures - Demons, Satanic Creatures
Main characters - Todd, Hannah, Curtis, Jenny
Fun, crude, cheesy cool show that doesn't take itself too seriously and neither should you. It's funny and creative and trust me, binge it if you can find this small-budget show on any streaming network.
This show is based around Todd, the high school stoner boy who pairs up with the school's geek, his crush and his best friend with one arm. The team of misfits fight satanic creatures and still somehow attend school.
Get ready for some rock'n'roll, outlandish plots, old-school special effects and lots of laughs. Binge on this now!
5| Buffy the Vampire Slayer

A rare show where the series gets better each season with its interesting, strong, witty, funny and lovable characters.
Think high school drama meets the supernatural world. It may sound like the standard storyline where the chosen vampire slayer attends school and fights creatures by night but it is so much more. The show has humour, romance, friendships and loyalty between the good folk & the evil guys. Shit gets messy but in the end, Buffy and her gang always come out on top, one way or another.
Must watch for those who are loving everything 90's right now and those who want an addictive cult show to binge on.
6| Charmed

Main characters - Piper, Phoebe, Prue, Paige, Leo, Cole
Originally made in the late 90s, you would think this show is like all the other Aaron Spelling teen dramas, but you would be mistaken. It is a well-written series with a big heart and wonderful characters.
This series focuses on sisters who are Witches and their constant battle between good and evil in San Fransico. But these ladies are not your typical witches. They are smart, have their own careers, are BFFs and somehow manage to hide their identities from the world around them.
It may not be Buffy but it certainly is one to watch. Even the opening theme song is one of the best you will get for this era of TV.
7| Ash vs Evil Dead

Gory, hilarious, action-packed and at times crazy, this series is the follow-up of the cult movie franchise The Evil Dead
When a plague hits, who else can save the world but Ash Williams, the monster hunter who takes no shit and gets crap done! Played by the brilliant Bruce Campbell, this series takes horror action shows to the next level & just what you want to watch leading up to Halloween.
8| The Munsters
Aired - 1964 to 1967

Creatures - Monsters, Vampires, Werewolves, Humans
Main characters - Herman, Lily, Grandpa, Eddie, Marilyn
A classic show with a heart of gold. Full of life lessons in a kitschy funny and entertaining way. A show that was way before its time and never gets old.
This series focuses on an unusual family with Frankenstein's monster as the dad, a Vampire wife & grandpa, a werewolf son and a human as the niece. How this all works is beyond me but it does, very successfully.
Now I know what you are thinking, everyone has already seen this but maybe if you are only over 40 years old and grew up watching the repeats every weekend morning. The young generation needs to find the pure magic of this show and love it as much as the older generations before it.
Now I did see there is a reboot movie version coming out soon, the trailer looks mediocre but I am hoping its saving grace will be that it's a Zob Zombie movie
9| Lucifer

Disclaimer: I told myself I would never watch this show, it looked lame, predictable and a bit tryhardish. All of my friends were telling me to watch it but I didn't listen, like why would I want to watch this, just for the hot main actor? Well, that wasn't enough for me 😂 Until one late night, looking for something to watch I hit play, and OMG I am glad I did. Totally not what I expected and soooo funny.
This cop show features Lucifer (the devil) who helps solve crimes in a wacky, funny, sometimes sexy and always clever way. The crimes may be a bit predictable but the show really isn't about the crimes but the relationships between all the characters.
The show begins with Lucifer living a great life while on holiday in LA, owning the hottest nightclub in town and having a break from the daily hellish life he leads. But then he gets a crush on the local detective Chloe, which takes his womanising, partying ways into a new direction.....
And my friends were right, you will fall for Lucifer's charm, looks and will binge that next episode just to get more of him.
I do not want to say too much about this show because I do not want to ruin it, but immediately put this fantasy comedy on your list.
10| Santa Clarita Diet

Main characters - Sheila, Joel, Abby, Eric
This show will have you laughing each episode and wondering why you have never watched it before now. It's a totally unique zombie show with funny twists in each episode.
The show focuses on Shiela (Drew Barrymore) who unfortunately becomes the undead and has cravings for human meat. Her family then need to learn to work together to hide her condition and maybe even help her stay undead.
Watch this over one whole weekend and then rewatch the following 😂
11| Firebite
Release year - 2021 to 2022

Creatures - Vampires, Vampire Slayers
Main characters - Tyson, Shanika
Okay, yes it's another vampire series but this one is Australian and how can I not share this great fantasy show with the world?
The series focuses on a father & daughter who are Indigenous amateur vampire hunters and their quest to kill the last of the vampires in their small outback Aussie town. Can the king vampire take over this opal town? You will have to watch to find out
This may be a low-budget horror series but it is beautifully filmed, with an interesting storyline and a spectacular cast. Make sure you give it a watch if you can find it in your part of the world
12| Teenwolf
Aired - 2011 to 2017

Genre - Fantasy, horror, action, romance
Creatures - Werewolves
Main characters - Scott, Lydia, Stiles, Alison
Another show with a lot of seasons but the only one that focuses on a Werewolf as the main character. Like sometimes we need a break from those Vampires! This is not your Twilight-like series, it is way more.
This show focuses on Scott who after a 'bite' becomes a teen werewolf and has to live his life struggling to come to terms with his new identity while also being a teen in high school.
Great special effects, compelling storyline and a cast that you will be insta stalking, that's if you are not already. Add it to your growing list.
13| True Seekers
Aired - 2020
Seasons - 1
Genre - Comedy, fantasy, horror
Creatures - Ghosts
Main characters - Gus, Astrid, Elton, Dave
I watched this because Nick Frost was starring in it but stayed for the paranormal story, cast and just wanting to know what will happen next.
This show focuses on YouTuber Gus and his new work buddy Elton discovering more than they should while doing their day job of installing broadband.
There are not many paranormal comedy horrors around so if you are addicted to ghosts, twists and turns and interesting characters then be sure to binge this one on a boring Sunday afternoon. But be sure to watch it to the end
